This is the end result of an awesome day.
Alarm was set at 3:40am. I woke up at 1am and 3am, then was out of bed by 3:15am. It strange, when my alarm goes at 5:30am on a work day, I struggle to get out of bed. On a Sunday, my alarm doesn’t even need to ring, and I’m up, earlier, and with less sleep!
I looked outside at 3am and it was raining. Then met up with Emerson, Ed, Jhun, and Roy at the bus stop at 4am. We departed camp at 4:15am to go crabbing at Pouembout and it was raining hard enough to make road visibility bad.
After driving through some dirt roads through farms, we got there at 5am, and it was still drizzling. There were many mosquitos, so I kept applying repellent to any exposed skin, and I watched the pros in action.
Some fish were caught.
and a crab.
Then at 6:15, I headed back towards camp to pick up the other guys. Got to camp at 7am, there was a nice rainbow over the site.
The guys gathered their cooking equipment, then we went to the supermarket.
Our car air-conditioning doesn’t work. But then I saw an old car with none of these luxuries (apart from the joy of driving something so minimal and utilitarian).
After dropping the guys off at Voh, I went back to Pouembout to pick up the crabbing/fishing guys. only 2 crabs were caught, the undersized ones were put back.
When pulling the net back in, there were many fish that weren’t good for eating that were thrown back.
Brought them to Voh, and saw some of the great food that was being prepared.
It’s some of the tastiest food I’ve had here!
I went back to camp to pick up Franklin (who couldn’t make it) and have a quick shower. Got back, and everyone was there!
There was a group of Vietnamese also there who were leaving this week.
So they gave us their cooking utensils they won’t need anymore, and Emerson got their hammock.
It was an afternoon full of eating good food.
The one day I forget to wear suncream. I get burnt (refer to first photo!)
