A few photographs for those who don’t want to watch the video.

We met up at 7:30am.

A bit further on, we saw Francois walking!

We stopped by the side of the road near Kone for some photos of the colourful trees.

It’s Saturday! BBQ day!

Spent the afternoon on field while instrument air leaks are being fixed.  Construction has only left us for one day so far, and still have things to fix!

I saw the scaffolders skilfully dismantling a scaffold.  I think they are removing most of the scaffolding before they demobilise.

IMG_5613

Anyway, right after work, I went to the catneen for a barbeque.

IMG_5615IMG_5617

IMG_5620

IMG_5630IMG_5629

IMG_5631

I ate a lot of meat.  I also had 3 chocolate filled donuts (I had Thys’ as he doesn’t like chocolate, and Tom’s as he doesn’t like sweets, then I had mine, and some of Jonathan Ferris’ as his was super hard).  Then an icecream.   Now I am so full, and too lazy to go outside to the “disco” that they’ve got on.  I’m tired and frightened of the mosquitos outside.  They are vicious.

R&R 9–Travel Day and bye bye Ray

My flight from Noumea Sydney was on Wednesday 30th October.  So I had to catch the 4pm bus on Tuesday and spend the night at Tontoutel.  It was a super busy morning, trying to finish everything I need to do before getting on the bus.

I left work at about 3pm, went to my room to get my things  Ray was also leaving, but demobilising Sad smile  He stays across from me, so I’m going to miss my neighbour!

IMG_4015

IMG_4016IMG_4018

Joshua drove Ray and his luggage (and me) to the bus stop.

IMG_4019

IMG_4022

YK was also demobilising.

IMG_4038

We got to the Tontoutel airport hotel at around 7:30pm, and we had dinner.

IMG_4039

I had the tuna steak, Ray had the steak.

IMG_4044IMG_4043

And creme brulee for dessert.

IMG_4045

The next morning, I left the hotel and walked to the airport.

IMG_4051IMG_4055IMG_4056

It took 10 minutes to walk to the airport, and I saved $10 by not taking the shuttle.

We went into the lounge and had breakfast.

IMG_4060

IMG_4064

IMG_4061

Then when it was time for boarding, we saw YK again.

IMG_4065

IMG_4069

We had lunch on the plane.

IMG_4072

I had some Vietnamese candies which someone at site gave to me.  However, I could not eat them all and had to throw them away upon arrival in Sydney for fear of being caught by quarantine.

IMG_4074

The lounge at Sydney was very busy, but we managed to find a place to sit and eat before boarding the plane to Perth.

IMG_4084

IMG_4085

IMG_4086

I had dinner on the plane, and then a mango icecream!

IMG_4087

IMG_4090

When I landed in Perth, Julie picked me up and we went to Merrywell for dinner with Amy and Stefanus.

Then we went home and packed for the next morning departure for Bali, a trip which I shall write about next time.

Sunday 10th November– Beach!

Planned to sleep in on Sunday morning, but was awoken by a phone call asking me if I wanted to go to the beach.  As tired as I was, I’m glad I agreed to go!

We stopped by the supermarket at Koumac, and then to the bakery, where I had a “huit” (translates to ‘8’).  It’s like a giant bread donut.

IMG_5235

The beach we went to was past Malabou Beach, it was my first time there.

It was a pleasant beach (the colours looked even more beautiful under polarised sunglasses), I sat under a shady tree.  The water was shallow and lots of little fish swimming around.  When we got there, we saw Tom, Martin and Lindo having a barbeque, they shared some barbequed meat with us.  It was tasty.

IMG_5241IMG_5243IMG_5244IMG_5248

They went for a walk, while I lay under the tree relaxed.  There was a dog sniffing around for the barbequed meat.  It took the bones away.

IMG_5254

IMG_5258

IMG_5265

I brought my laptop to begin updating my blog.

IMG_5268

Then the clouds came and it started drizzling, so we left.

Some photos from the photo outing a few weeks ago

I got this roll developed while I was in Bali.  I thought it would be a good idea to get it developed there so that it wouldn’t have to pass through more x-ray machines.  I don’t have time to do my own scanning anymore, so I let the shop do it for me.  They did very poorly.  The negatives came back stained, scratched, and sticky residue over it. Makes me seriously considering getting a new digital camera.

Anyway, here’s a few photographs from the photo outing a few weeks ago.  I tried to correct it in Lightroom, but can’t get consistent colour.  The film was Ektar 100.

I hope to write more here about my most recent R&R soon.  I went to Bali Smile

My second trip to Noumea 26-27 October 2013

It was a busy Saturday morning at work, but in the afternoon, we went to Noumea.

Leaving site.

IMG_3554

IMG_3556

First stop was Kone Discount. The Halloween decorations were out.

IMG_3559

We realised that the cars we got were almost identical (even the carplates).

IMG_3562

We made a halfway toilet stop.

IMG_3566

There was a dog waddling around.

IMG_3564

IMG_3567

Seemed like an expo (close to Boon’s heart?) was on.

IMG_3571

We arrived in Noumea, welcomed by the sight of SLN.

IMG_3576

Then passed the Vale ferry that goes to Goro.

IMG_3577

An in-car selfie.

IMG_3578

IMG_3579

IMG_3581

We checked into the aparttel at Promenade.

IMG_3583

We got a three bedroom aparttel, it was really nice.

Then Jonathan came to join me.

IMG_3616

IMG_3625

There were multiple Jonathans in the lift.

IMG_3626

Then we went out for dinner, at a place called Astrolabe.

I ordereed the Tagliatelle with foie gras and smoked duck breast slices, roasted pine kernels.

IMG_3659

It was super rich in foie gras.  Foie gras overload.

IMG_3689

IMG_3661

Ray and William did their posing.

IMG_3669IMG_3670IMG_3671

And we took more photos.

IMG_3674

IMG_3675

Ray had a shrimp cocktail.

IMG_3684

IMG_3694

I had dessert.

IMG_3697

This is William’s dessert.

IMG_3695

After this we went back, and I fell asleep.  I was woken up later when someone accidentally fell across me, then he started snoring.

The next morning, we went for breakfast.

IMG_3700

IMG_3704

I had a burger.

IMG_3708

There was a bicycle race on.

IMG_3712IMG_3713

IMG_3715

and the cyclists rode around.

IMG_3716

William had the Kobe beef.

IMG_3941

IMG_3938

After a very satisfying lunch, we left.

IMG_3945

and headed back to site.  Leaving Noumea was difficult as there were many detours, ended up circling around and catching a glimpse of Chinatown.

IMG_3948

IMG_3949

On the way back, we had to slow down as a cow decided to cross the road.
